The final bell rings, backpacks zip shut, and cheers fill the halls—summer break is HERE! At Middletown Christian School (MCS), we believe summer isn’t just a pause button; it’s a chance to grow, explore, and keep faith alive in exciting ways. Whether you’re a parent or a scholar, here’s how to make this summer your best one yet!
1. Celebrating Growth: Our End-of-Year Traditions
At MCS, we don’t just end the year—we celebrate it! From award ceremonies to ‘Legacy Projects’ (where scholars leave encouraging notes for next year’s class), we create moments that build confidence and community. Even our youngest scholars shine in our ‘Bible Character Showcase,’ where they share lessons from their favorite faith heroes!
2. Summer Break Adventures: What to Do When School’s Out!
"No more homework? No problem! Here are 5 FUN ways to fill your summer days:
📖 Book Bonanza: Visit the library or our MCS Book Vending Machine (open all summer!) and challenge yourself to read 10 books. (Pro tip: Act them out for extra fun!)
🌱 Backyard Bible Club: Grab friends and host a mini VBS with stories, snacks, and silly games.
🔍 Faith-Based Scavenger Hunts: Search for God’s creations—like the tallest tree or the happiest-looking cloud—and snap photos!
🎨 Service Art: Paint kindness rocks with Bible verses and hide them around town to bless others.
⛺ Family Campout (Even Indoors!): Build a fort, tell stories, and stargaze while thanking God for His wonders!"
3. Faith at Home: How to Keep Growing Closer to God
"Summer is the perfect time to fall in love with Jesus all over again! Try these simple but powerful habits:
📖 ‘5-Minute Family Devotions’: Pick a verse at breakfast and talk about it while eating pancakes! (Example: “Be kind” [Ephesians 4:32] + plan a kindness mission that day.)
🙏 Prayer Walks: Explore your neighborhood and pray for neighbors, mail carriers, or even the squirrels!
🎵 Worship Playlists: Create a family playlist of favorite praise songs for car rides or dance parties.
💌 ‘God Sightings’ Journal: Write down where you saw God’s love each week (a rainbow, a helping hand, etc.)."
"While summer is for fun, we’re already dreaming up amazing things for next year at MCS! Think:
🚀 Science experiments that’ll blow your mind
🎭 Drama productions that bring Bible stories to life
🤝 New service projects to help our community
Psst… want a sneak peek? Book a summer campus tour to see the classrooms, meet teachers, and even try the book vending machine!"
